International driving Permit in Florida!

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles have suspended a new law requiring foreign drivers to have an International Driving Permitt (IDP) for driving in Florida.
Florida had tightened up it's motoring rules threatening overseas motorists with jail unless they held an International Driving Permit, but following a U turn over the new rules, the requirement has been suspended "pending further study" as it may violate the Geneva Convention on road safety.
